What is CELPIP General?
CELPIP (Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program) General is a computer-delivered test of listening, reading, writing and speaking, taken in one sitting of about three hours. Speaking responses are recorded on the computer, and the content uses everyday and workplace situations rather than academic topics. Results are reported as levels from 1 to 12 for each skill.
It's mainly used for Canadian immigration, and Home Affairs added it to the approved list for Australia from 7 August 2025. Check the official CELPIP website for test centres and current details.

Should you choose CELPIP?
It can suit you if you prefer everyday topics over academic ones, or you've already taken it for Canada. In Australia, availability of CELPIP test centres may be more limited than for PTE or IELTS, so check dates before deciding.
