General information, not migration advice. We explain published test scores. We can't tell you which visa you're eligible for or what you personally need. Requirements change, so always check the Department of Home Affairs website, or speak to a registered migration agent.

How the check works
Home Affairs defines Competent, Proficient and Superior English as a minimum score in each of the four skills. This tool compares your numbers with the published table for your test date and shows how many points you're short in each skill.
It doesn't know anything about your visa, your circumstances or other evidence you might have. It just compares numbers. For your situation, use the official English language pages or a registered migration agent.
Tables last checked against the Home Affairs website on 12 October 2026.
