What is PTE Multiple Choice?
You listen to a recording and answer a multiple-choice question. In Multiple Answers you choose more than one option; in Single Answer you choose one.
How it's scored
Single Answer: one point. Multiple Answers: plus one for each correct choice, minus one for each wrong choice (minimum zero). Both contribute to listening.
Tips for a higher score
- Read the question and options before the audio.
- Take short notes on the main points.
- In Multiple Answers, choose only the options you're sure about.
- Remove options that add information the speaker didn't say.

If you want to save money on groceries, plan your meals for the week and write a shopping list. Shop after you've eaten, not when you're hungry. Compare prices per kilo, which are shown on shelf labels in Australian supermarkets, and consider store-brand products, which are often cheaper but similar in quality.

In this unit we'll look at why some animals migrate. The main reason is food: many birds fly north or south as seasons change and food becomes scarce. Breeding is another reason, as some species travel to safer places to raise their young. Climate also matters; animals may move to avoid extreme cold. Interestingly, scientists believe some birds use the Earth's magnetic field to find their way.

When you prepare a presentation, think about three things. First, know your audience and what they already understand. Second, keep your slides simple, with few words and clear images. Third, practise out loud, timing yourself so you don't run over. Many speakers forget the last point and end up rushing.

Before you sign a lease, check a few things carefully. Read the condition report and add photos of any damage, so you're not blamed for it later. Make sure you understand how much bond you're paying and where it's lodged. And ask how repairs are requested. Don't assume the rent includes electricity or internet; usually it doesn't.

Let me give you a quick tip on reading academic articles. Don't start at the first line and read every word. Look at the abstract first, then the conclusion. If the article is still relevant, go back and read the methods and results in detail.

If you're applying for a rental property in Australia, it helps to prepare your documents in advance. Agents usually ask for identification, proof of income and references from previous landlords.
