Who this plan is for

This plan is for you if your recent OET scores are mostly in grade C (200 to 290) and you want to reach C+ (300 or more) in every sub-test. C+ is rarely the final goal. For OET tests taken on or after 23 April 2026, Ahpra's English language skills standard asks for Listening 350, Reading 360, Writing 350 and Speaking 360, and nurses and midwives should check the Nursing and Midwifery Board's own English language skills standard. This plan builds the foundations that grade B depends on: accurate notes in Listening, fast scanning in Reading, a well-organised letter, and a clear structure for the role-plays.

How the plan works

  1. Start with the quick check. About 35 minutes of listening, reading, a shortened letter and a shortened role-play. It shows which sub-test needs the most work.
  2. Add your official scores. The dashboard asks for your latest official OET scores (0–500 for each sub-test) and compares them with the targets below. Our own practice shows your share of points on our questions, not an OET score.
  3. Five sessions a week, about 20–35 minutes each. Each session has one clear job. Tick it off when you finish; the plan remembers your place on this device.
  4. One foundation a week. Listening Part A notes, Reading Part A speed, choosing case notes, letter layout and tone, then role-play structure. Short sessions on the other sub-tests keep everything moving.
  5. One lesson a week. Read it on day 1. It explains exactly what to change, with examples from healthcare.
  6. A weekly check at the end of each week, and full practice in week 6.

What C+ means

Each OET sub-test is scored from 0 to 500, in steps of 10, and there's no overall grade on the results.

Grade Score
B 350–440
C+ 300–340
C 200–290

This plan's target is 300 in each sub-test: Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. Writing and Speaking are written for your profession (for example nursing, medicine, pharmacy or physiotherapy), while Listening and Reading are the same for everyone. That's why the practice here mixes professions: the language skills are the same.

An honest note

We can't tell you your OET score. Only the official OET marking does that, so use your real results to check progress and type them on your plan home. Use our practice to find weak areas and build better habits. If you need OET for an Australian visa, note that Home Affairs sets its own minimums (for Competent English, tests on or after 7 August 2025: Listening 290, Reading 310, Writing 290 and Speaking 330), so check the Home Affairs website or ask a registered migration agent.

Frequently asked questions

What score is OET grade C+?

C+ is a score of 300 to 340 in a sub-test. Each of the four sub-tests is scored from 0 to 500, in steps of 10, and there's no overall grade. Grade C is 200 to 290, and grade B is 350 to 440.

Is C+ enough to register as a health professional?

Usually not on its own. Many regulators ask for at least 350 (grade B) in each sub-test, and some ask for more in reading or speaking. Use this plan as a step: once you're at 300 or more, move on to the grade B strategies. Always check the exact scores with the organisation you're applying to.

Will this plan tell me my OET score?

No. Our practice shows your share of points on our questions, not an OET score. The dashboard asks you to type your official OET scores (0–500 for each sub-test) and compares them with the targets.

My profession isn't in every practice set. Does that matter?

Not much. Listening and Reading are the same for every profession, and the skills in Writing and Speaking (choosing information, organising a letter, structuring a role-play) are the same too. Practise the sets as they are, then try the same skills with case notes and role-play cards from your own profession.

What if I'm already scoring 300 or more?

Read our guide on how to get OET grade B, and use this plan only for the sub-tests that are still below 300.
