Mei woke up with a sore throat and a headache. She felt terrible, so she called the medical centre.

"Hi, I'd like to make an appointment today, please. I've got a sore throat."

"We have a cancellation at 11:15. Is that okay?" asked the receptionist.

"Perfect, thank you."

At the clinic, the receptionist asked for her Medicare card. Then Mei waited for twenty minutes.

The doctor looked at her throat. "It's a virus," she said. "Antibiotics won't help. Rest, drink lots of water, and take paracetamol if you need it."

"Can I go to work tomorrow?" Mei asked.

"Better to stay home for a day or two. I'll give you a medical certificate for work."

Mei went home, made a cup of tea and slept all afternoon. Two days later, she felt much better.
